My computer sometimes locks up with a GPF (General Protection Fault) and I have to reboot. What causes this?

It happens at least 10 times a day. It is very annoying. I will probably have to take it to a repair shop.

What’s wrong with my computer?

February 25th, 2010

Jhastyn asked:

This morning I was using my computer and it was working perfectly. After wards, I turned off my computer and left my house to go out somewhere. 5 hours later, I come home and went straight to my computer, turning it on. However, to my surprise, the monitor won’t turn on. I rebooted about 50 times as well as unplugged and replugged everything.
For the next 2 hours, I was experimenting by changing the monitor I had and a friend of mines came by and it turns out that both of them don’t work. I tried out my monitor on my friend’s computer and it worked, thus giving me the conclusion that it’s my computer’s fault…
Not my question is this: What caused my computer to act this way and is there a way to fix it?

I was looking inside my computer for a solution and I found that my RAM card was just sitting there, if that ever helps you.

What dreadful thing should I do to my old wicked (computer) mouse?

February 25th, 2010

jlb asked:

So, the situation is like this. I had this very, very dysfunctional mouse, and I had kept on forgetting (or being too lazy) to buy a new one for a long, loooong time. After the said long, loooong sufferance, today I have finally convinced myself that I DO NEED ANOTHER MOUSE (again, it’s a device with buttons I’m talking about, not a living creature), and I got myself a new one. The thing is, what horrible revenge should I take for the misery caused by that old wicked mouse? Give me some distructive ideas, please.
(“it wasn’t the mouse’s fault!” won’t do. *It was* precisely the mouse’s fault, and it deserves to be punished!!)
