ICEHOUSE asked:
I have computer PIII Inter 733 MHz 256 MB Ram which restarts but dont know why, it restarts when the computer desktop is visible after booting and suddenly restart with n clue or reason. Even I have installed the windows several times but still no improvement. Further I check the Virus possiblity and hardware fault possibility but nothing comes out of that all. I guess its a big Mystery no one may solve that maybe somebody.

Your computer RAM has problem, try to replace it, or try to check if the Hard drive is ok.
Check the electricity… it might be cause of low voltage…

Well , i had this problem long time ago , check your processor temperature , if it`s over 30 , you`r cooler might be broken , or try adding one more , or just izolate the place where it`s glued on the board

check the cpu fan. if it isn’t spinning, your cpu will get too hot and shutdown to save it’s self. there is also a speed sensor in the cpu fan that can go bad and tell the motherboard it isn’t spinning when it actually is. try booting up your computer and go into the bios. there should be a spot where you cam see what the cpu temp is and what the rpm of the cpu fan is. you can also download motherboard monitor and it will show you the temp/speed.
Even I had the Same Problem with My PC. I was Breaking My Head the Way You Are. Then I changed the Hard Disk drive. Now it is Perfect. I feel that the Hard Disk has created many Bad Sectors Which is failing to Compart with The OS. Or it is affected by fatal Virus.
Try Changing the Hard disk. It may Work for you Too.

Do not forget to check the Video Card Fan as well, overheating is most likely the cause here, check all your fans and replace them.

In my experience, an overheated graphics card will cause the monitor to shut off and display a message similar to “No input detected” or something to that effect. However, the computer doesn’t restart, just goes into standby.

I don’t think it’s overheating so short after start. It seems to be a memory problem. If you have two sticks, try once to start the PC with only one stick, then with the other. If this isn’t possible or don’t solve the problem get the memorytest program called memtest-86 on the net (obviously you have a second PC to ask a question here
). This program must be copied on a floppy disk and inserted in the defective PC. On startup the PC will automatically boot from that floppy and run the memtest.
