change ur mother board bios battery its weak …

and if ur using more than 1 rams in ur system

make sure both are the same speed and

if there speed is compatiable with the mother board …

    ———-

for eg – if ur using 1 gb 667 ram if u wanna use a second ram

it must be 667 mhz too and the capacity doesnt matter

it can be 512 or 1 gb or whtever u like …

and the speed of the ram have to be supported

    by the mother board

for eg . if ur rams are 667 speed if the mother

board only supports 133 mhz rams it will

    give problems …

    —————————–

see if ur using a processor with a fsb

rate that match ur mother board fsb rating …

fsb means front size bus … for eg

ur processor may be 1333 fsb and

ur mother board must support 1333 fsb

or else it will give crash ups restarts and hangs

    while using ur pc …

    —————–

if ur sure those aint the problems ur having

do a fresh re installatinon of windows xp

but delete ur older partitions and create

new once plus do format em using ntfs

file system (full format not quick format) …

I agree, do a GOOD virus scan with a program like Kaspersky. And do a good spyware scan too. If its too infected, I suggest you reformat after backing up all your stuff.

The power box fan may be broken. I had that happen to me… When the power box overheats the computer will automatically shut down. Check it.
Also, do you have enough fans in your computer? It may be overheating.. Is the CPU fan working?

It may also have a faulty battery… does it ever say CMOS error… battery low or something like that? (because that will reset your date)…
