    It depends on the country, state/province and county/shire. Many are not on-line, to preserve privacy, and many of those those that are on-line are not free.

    In the USA you can find sexual offenders in California on

    You’d have to Google
    “Megan’s Law” {State}
    to find the same site for a different state. Changing the “ca.gov” to “tx.gov” doesn’t work.

    If the public records you want are the 1881 Canadian census, the Mormons have it. Write for a link.

    For free, I would recommend searching public records; has an extensive public records database that you can search for free. Good luck!
