My computer and CD burner won’t read blank disc CD-R?

Ok, so before, I was able to burn discs (CD-R). But, now, whenever I try to burn a CD using Nero StartSmart, it says “Please enter a blank disc”. But there is one. I’ve tried many discs but they don’t work anymore.

My computer will read CDs with songs in them already. But not blank ones.
So, is this my computer’s fault or is it the burner? How can I fix this problem?
Any suggestions on what types of CD-burners are best???

You could try testing with another program and/or OS. But it’s probably a physical problem with burner.

Since the computer still reads CD’s you can rule out a hardware problem … that is good news!
My guess is that it is a problem with Nero (I use Nero and I have seen this type of thing before).
Try using another program to burn your CD … and if/when that works then you know that a re-install of Nero should fix the problem(s).
