What is causing my computer to pull up a blue screen?

February 27th, 2010

Maria asked:

Be it surfing the Internet, playing video games or even just typing, a blue screen suddenly pulls up with this message:

“A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Beginning dump of physical memory.”

…This is pretty much the gist of it. The computer technician suggested to have my computer reformatted but it didn’t work. It was reformatted multiple times already. We also tried replacing the hard disk, the programs ran more smoothly but still the blue screen would still pop up. And I think it got worse with the new hard disk.

Please help… what’s wrong with my computer? :(

    is it vista or XP?

if this is vista click on start and type

    memory

and you will see memory diagnostic tool, test your memory first,
if this is XP machine you can try 3rd party mem test software

if you will pick up any errors it will mean that your memory is faulty and will need to be replace

you already mantion that machine was formated many times so this is not a software issue it will be something wrong with the machine.

The Blue Screen of Death is usually caused due to a few specific reasons including a poorly written device driver, faulty memory, and incompatible DLL’s or a corrupt Registry.

The most likely cause is a bloated registry which has become the home for all kinds of useless bits and pieces of data. Whenever you start the computer the system reads the values from the registry entries to initialize the components that are essential for system to run smoothly. Whenever any change is made to the system settings or a program is installed or uninstalled, a new entry is generated in the registry. In this way, with continuous use the registry gets piled up with data most which is not used by the system. Especially the outdated entries and traces of incomplete software uninstallation remain in the registry without any use making the registry size bigger. These unimportant registry entries make the system slower as well as prone to frequent system errors. With a registry cleaner you can clean up the registry and fix the registry quiet easily.
I should like to commend Registry Easy (http://www.cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com to you ! Of course you can also try others!
