My computer sometimes locks up with a GPF (General Protection Fault) and I have to reboot. What causes this?

It happens at least 10 times a day. It is very annoying. I will probably have to take it to a repair shop.

A GPF could be caused by just about anything. Could be two programs running at the same time and conflicting with each other. Could be a buggy or old video driver or other driver on your computer. Could even be caused by a virus.
Is there one thing or a series of things you can do that will make it happen all the time? Perhaps thinking that way will lead you to the cause. Like, “it happens everytime I play a certain game” or “everytime I right click on something.”
Good luck.
