A virus can have a delayed kick off time period when it will initiate itself. I would re-run your virus checke and see if the virus has been completly removed from your system.

You might not have completely gotten rid of the virus, Did you run your anti-virus in Safe Mode? Some viruses and trojans hide in runing applications

someone told me a few years ago there was a virus that started at new year it showed a little animation of fireworks so i suppose it could be incubated

It could have been hiding in system restore. If you were infected and your operating system created a restore point it could have been copied there and came back. I would recommend you turn off system restore to get rid of your old restore points and then get the virus off and then turn system restore back on. To get to the system restore settings, right click on My Computer and then select Properties. You’ll see the System Restore Tab from there.

Yes, it is possible. There are some virus out there that attack on specific days of the year, or the first X day of the month, or a month after infection, etc…. so it’s certainly possible. CIH is a nasty but rare virus that copies itself to all your programs and mutates itself so that anti-virus has a hard time finding it. It can randomly reappear after weeks, months or years.

hey there yeah some virsues lay dormat for an few days untill the computer gets to be so full of crap that it begins to mess with the files and the cionfuguration or it can all happened imediatly as soon as u restored it it can be very very anoying and it will get on the nervs but it can be killed and be premitly wasted just needs to have time they are very hard to get off youre computer but i suggest also trying to take out the main cookies such as coolies folder then delet them all it makes them harder to come back and destroy youre computer
