Can spyware and other viruses be transferred from a computer to a website?

I have a proboards forum, one of the members apparently is having problems with a spyware protector virus, at least that’s what she called it. Anyway, is it possible that in posting on the forum, she could unkowingly infect the site, consequently infecting the computers of other members?

No, that can’t happen.

Some viruses do attempt to exploit security holes in web sites that the user visits. That said, you’ll find this EXTREMELY rare – your chances of getting struck by lightning are higher than this happening. This is simply because almost any virus that does this is specifically made to infect servers, not PCs; even then, it almost always comes from another web server that is itself infected.
Your forum will sooner distribute a virus through a contaminated third-party banner ad than one unknowingly uploaded from an infected PC.
