How does spyware work?

k j asked:

I’m wondering, what does spyware do to your computer? Also, is it like people sitting in front of screens watching everything you do? Thanks!
To clarify, I mean do people watch what you do on your computer and try to get account passwords and such?

it scans all of your files looknig for any information it can find, and then sends that information to the hacker, not how it sends and what information it sends is all the pends on the spyware

Spyware is used generically to describe any number of programs or processes that compromise your computer system. For example a keylogger does just that, it logs every key that you press, so in fact userid’s and passwords can be discovered. Spy ware comes in many shapes and forms, including those that track your browsing habits, search terms and other information.
